We can use tapping sticks to tap the rhythm of a well known song like ‘Mary had a Little Lamb’ or ‘Where is Thumbkin’. (Both found within Merrily Merrily) Can you think of another well known song or nursery rhyme where you can clap or tap out the rhythm with children? How else might you explore basic rhythm concepts with children?
